I've been told I'm stubborn. I've been told I do what I want, and there's no sense in trying to tell me otherwise. I've been told I'll learn my lessons. All true. So you can imagine that with this whole pregnancy thing, me obviously in unchartered territories, that it would probably be smart of me to actually listen to the advice of others...yeah...but I'm stubborn and I do what I want.
Now, I will say, I do use some discretion in my decisions, and I'm not an idiot. I'm not going to do something stupid, or something that I KNOW is unsafe. But if I want to dress up and wear heels, well then, I'm going to...or at least that was my thinking this weekend.
My husband is the Chairman of the dominant political party in our county...we had a huge convention this weekend (1500+ people) so I hope you can imagine that I think it's important to look nice...although sweats and a ponytail did sound amazing (having fought a cold all week). Well I had a perfect pair of heels that matched my dress and I thought I would be sitting most the day...wrong.
Aside from people coming up and telling me the were concerned for me and my baby by me not taking it easy...me? easy? C'mon! I'm used to going 100mph...oh, and someone actually telling me they better not see me in heels again - that I was going to kill my baby...yeah, for real! ...Someone actually told me that...and also told my mother-in-law to have a talk with me. ---aside from everyone's opinions, I did come to the conclusion...on my own... that heels were a bad choice!
The day ended up going from 7am to 10pm...long ass day!! And wearing 4 inch heels for fifteen hours (ok, maybe a little less, I did pack my ugly flats that I put on around hour 13) resulted in me actually pulling a muscle in the arch of my foot and giving me the worst charley horse I can remember. Like throwing me out of bed shouting bad. So yes, on my own...I came to the conclusion that heels and I need to take a break. Lesson learned.
Goodbye heels.
