Dear Peter Griffin, I Can't Stand You!

"Crazy Darci" returned this week, just for a few minutes, but by all means, those minutes will forever be remembered as the time Peter Griffin made me bawl my eyes out.

For those who may not know... I cannot STAND Family Guy - and it just so happens to be one of Brandon's favorite shows...every night, the same time we usually head to bed, Brandon flips on Family Guy while I get ready, wash my face, brush my teeth, lather up my big ol' belly, etc. I will admit, on a few very rare occasions, I have laughed...and maybe even got caught watching it, but for the most part, it drives me nuts.

Cue in crazy moment...a few days ago, as I was getting getting ready for bed - I just had this weird uncontrollable urge to cry...I had NO reason too, I just felt a cry coming on. Semi-laughing it off, I thought, well it must be the hormones. I finished up and got into bed just as Family Guy was starting, in particular this absolutely annoying scene...I'll give you a slight glimpse: Peter Griffin walking across some stage saying repeatedly...(and read it in it's entirety to fully understand where I'm coming from...and do it in an annoying voice for full effect): "STARLIGHT EXPRESS...STARLIGHT EXPRESS...STARLIGHT EXPRESS...STARLIGHT EXPRESS...STARLIGHT EXPRESS...STARLIGHT EXPRESS...STARLIGHT EXPRESS...STARLIGHT EXPRESS...STARLIGHT EXPRESS...STARLIGHT EXPRESS...STARLIGHT EXPRESS...STARLIGHT EXPRESS...STARLIGHT EXPRESS...STARLIGHT EXPRESS..."

In fact, I just googled the clip - and if you dare, go ahead and watch it yourself...see what I mean! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlKI3lTG0c0

About to scream? Did you stop because you were annoying yourself? Did you want to pull all of your hairs out...one by one? Now multiply that by say, 200...seriously. About halfway through this scene, I told Brandon to turn it off, it was driving me crazy...he ignored me and continued watching...and then I just freakin' lost it. I burst into tears...full on sobbing crying. I felt it coming and I couldn't stop it...crazy came back!!

Brandon looked at me and said, "this cannot be about Family Guy...what's the matter?" To which I replied, "nothing, I just hate that show!" --then he continued to try and find out what really was the matter (and I think he really was concerned that I'd been holding on to something) - and for some reason, that just pissed me off even more, that he didn't believe me that it really was about Family Guy. I. Went. Off. (full on crazy pregnant lady) - I yelled at him that I apparently was having a hormonal moment, and that it was normal and that if he'd read any of the books we have, he would KNOW that, and on, and on, and on. If I wasn't so caught up in my moment, I actually would have loved to see his face, I can only imagine he looked confused, and maybe a little terrified...

It really was absolutely the dumbest thing ever, and although I totally acknowledged that it was absolutely unnecessary and ridiculous, I was not about to admit it in that moment. Instead, I pulled my blankets over my head and went to sleep.

The next morning, Brandon looked at me and asked if "Crazy Darci" was still hanging around, and even though I was still mad about stupid Family Guy, I smiled told him she was gone, for now... (let's hope for good!)

  1. Pregnancy Hormones SUCK! Have Brandon get good Advice from Glenn. Glenn was an absolute Prince when it came to dealing with me. :) In Fact, I have another book for you. I will send it out next week. I hope you continue to laugh it off. You are doing great!
