Week 17 In Review!

How far along? 17 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 10 pounds - 2 sugar bags!
Maternity clothes? I’m so thankful – I have a couple of friends who recently had kiddos who literally brought a laundry basket full of maternity clothes to share – I split them up with my other prego buddy, and I now have an abundance of clothes to go through. The best part? One of my girlfriends is as tall as I am, so all her jeans should fit me!
Stretch marks? Oh man, so I got that Vitamin E Oil right? The one I kept reminding myself to get…well this week I started noticing very faint white squiggles on the top of my stomach, and thought, GET THE OIL!! I poured some into my hands, and whoa! It smelled like a hair salon. Bleh! I looked on the back of the bottle, duh…it’s for a hot oil treatment for your scalp! I got the wrong stuff! Dah…back to the store. After doing some research, (and I know it’s hereditary, and you can’t prevent it, and blah blah blah) I read that Palmer’s Cocoa Butter is some of the best stuff. So I went and bought it, that night. Came home, slathered it all over, and I came out and told my husband I felt like a chocolate Easter bunny! It has this terrible (maybe lovely for some) artificial chocolate smell…like scratch and sniff chocolate. Yuck! If it smelled like gummy worms, I probably would think differently…but ugh, cocoa overload. I sucked it up, and have diligently used it all week…better be worth it!
Sleep: Sleep has been good…Charley Horses have returned, but oh well, I can deal with them! I’ve also been waking up every morning for the last few weeks with a stuffy nose and sore throat, so I decided I should try and get a humidifier and see if it helps. I ended up borrowing one from a friend – a baby’s frog humidifier, haha, but it works!
Best moment this week: I think I mentioned a little post about how maybe I felt the baby kick or move…but wasn’t sure…I’m pretty sure it is! And, the craziest part? You know how I’ve been on this spicy kick? Yeah, Baby Vick totally reacts to spicy! On Saturday afternoon, Brandon and I were relaxing for a bit (after doing landscaping for 3 Habitat for Humanity houses!) and we were snacking on Jalapeno Artichoke Dip. Boom! Felt some movement. So naturally, I continued! So amazing! Hopefully, the kiddo will like spicy foods and not hate me for torturing him/her. The next day, we have Thai….so I went “Level 4” – sure enough!
Best (non-pregnancy) moment of the week: I decided to add this, because there are about a million other things going on in life that I want to be able to reflect on as well, and also, so I don’t become one of those people who only talk about baby baby baby…(even though this is a blog devoted to the pregnancy!)…SO! Best moment? Spending time with the family helping others. As I mentioned before, we had a “work day” Saturday where we went to a neighborhood of Habitat for Humanity houses and did some landscaping with other local landscape businesses. It’s so nice to be able to do something so small and make such a difference.
Have you told family and friends: Absolutely, it’s nice to have it all out there now! It is however, interesting, to start getting everyone’s advice...aye aye aye.
Miss Anything? Same ol, same ol. But I’ve found plenty of food to supplement the food I miss. Haha.
Movement: Oh, well reference Best Moment of the Week. :)
Food cravings: It probably has something to do with being quick and easy, but we’ve been consuming a fair amount of BLTA sandwiches. They are so good, and quick to make! WIN! Also, anything spicy, as previously mentioned.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, and I love the simple things in life, like when your husband shows you how to close the vents in your car so nasty cigarette smoke doesn’t infiltrate your car! I can’t believe I didn’t know that!
Have you started to show yet: Me and my “triangle” baby…as Brandon calls it.
Gender prediction: Next week we’re doing the gender predication tests – I’ll have a separate post on that! And then not too far into the future we’ll have our Gender Reveal Party!! Oh, and Brandon and I went nursery shopping…I’ll see if there’s a way to show my idea boards on here…so excited!
Belly Button in or out? Button is in but the belly is totally out!
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! Life is great!
